An oil and gas platform operated by Mariner Energy approximately 80 miles off the central coast of Louisiana burst into flames today. The fire which began at approximately 9am CDT is now out, and the 13 platform workers have been rescued. Still no word on what caused the fire but a Mariner Spokesperson was quick to announce that it was not a "blow out." Mariner is reporting that the fire started on the upper deck in or near the living quarters.
